Stag’s Hollow Winery had some outstanding results at the 2018 National Wine Awards of Canada (NWAC). Larry Gerelus and Linda Pruegger, the hands-on owners of Stag’s Hollow, quickly praised their “great team, both in the vineyard and in the cellar” for this achievement.
Top 1% in all of Canada! WineAlign reported, “In 2018, over 1,850 wines from 257 wineries entered the NWAC, making this year’s awards the largest and most comprehensive wine competition in Canadian history.” To earn top medals, winners survived multiple elimination rounds of blind tasting. Platinum Award winners represented only the top one per cent or top 18 wines in Canada. Stag’s Hollow’s 2017 Albarino achieved Platinum.
More Awards: The 2015 Renaissance Pinot Noir and 2015 Renaissance Merlot were bestowed Gold. These top three wines came from Stag’s Hollow’s two properties, Shuttleworth Creek and Stag’s Hollow Estate, located in the new sub GI (Sub-appellation Geographic Indicator) of Okanagan Falls.
Other awarded wines included Silver Medals for the 2015 Renaissance Meritage, 2017 Renaissance Grenache and 2016 Syrah; and Bronze for 2015 Heritage Block and 2015 Renaissance Syrah. These medals earned Stag’s Hollow fifth place in Canada’s Best Small Wineries and 13th overall for Top Wineries in Canada. With a beautiful new tasting room and these award-winning wines, Stag’s Hollow is a must-stop on your fall wine tour.
