The Okanagan is undoubtedly the best place to spend summers in Canada, and Black Hills is arguably the best place to spend summers in the Okanagan. Therefore, it only makes sense that Black Hills Estate Winery is the best place to spend your summer, period.
The winery, located in Oliver along the Black Sage Bench, has events that will have you marking them in red on your calendar and counting down the days.
“We hear from people all the time that they look forward to our events all year,” says Rachel Dick, Black Hills’ marketing manager. “It’s really a time to showcase what our winery has to offer in a fun and different way.”
Kicking off the summer season at the end of June was Black Hills’ 18th annual Nota Bene release party. If you missed it, don’t worry, the best is yet to come.
Mark a big, red ‘X’ on your calendars for Saturday, August 11, and get ready for an evening of entertainment, fashion and, of course, fantastic wine. Black Hills’ Midsummer Night’s Dream party is the place to be. The Miami-inspired pool party will have you feeling as if you’re on a mini-vacation. Whether you are dancing up a storm or relaxing in one of the poolside cabanas, this is a party you don’t want to miss. With wine in hand, watch The Aqualilies, a world renowned synchronized swim team, all the while listening to lounge-style tracks, spun by an on-site DJ.
There will even be a swimwear fashion show, put on by Penticton’s Tiger Ally, displaying some of the hottest summer trends. Don’t worry, fashion is always forward, so if you’ve already bought your suit for the year, the showcased styles are timeless, so still take notes! Those not wanting to be splashed, keep your distance. This is the hottest party of the year, so you might need some cooling down.
Although the fashion show, music and pool festivities might have you mesmerized, the wine will always steal the spotlight. Tickets are $179 plus tax, and can be purchased online at www.blackhillswinery.com.
If you can’t wait until August, Black Hills’ sunset happy hour is every day from 4 to 7 pm during July and August. For $20, two-for-one portfolio flights are offered, including six feature wines, with 2 ounces in each pour. If you visit the winery on a Friday, you’ll be lucky to hear DJ Shakes freestyle. There’s no better way to kick off the weekend than with good wine and music you can dance to.
Whatever you plan on doing this summer, make sure you include Black Hills Estate Winery.
