For family-owned Moraine Estate Winery, receiving accolades creates golden moments for the whole family and team. The most recent accomplishment was seen in the Okanagan Life Magazine 2018 Best of BC Wine Awards in which Moraine Estate received gold medals for Pinot Noir 2016 and Cliffhanger Red 2016.
The Cliffhanger Red 2016 — made with handpicked Merlot and Malbec grapes grown on the Anastasia Vineyard, fermented in French Oak and bottled on-site had already achieved prestigious recognition, winning silver medals at the 2016 International Fingers Lake Wine Competition in New York and the 2016 WineAlign National Awards of Canada. Highly recommended for barbecue fans, it provides a flavour explosion when paired with grilled red meat.
The 2016 Pinot Noir, on the other hand, pairs well with a warm, crispy duck salad, poached salmon or roasted sage encrusted mushrooms. This exclusive Pinot Noir was grown at Sophia’s Vineyard, fermented in small bins to develop high fruitiness and lovely aromas, and aged 10 months in premium French Oak.
These are just two examples that indicate the uncompromising approach of proprietors Oleg and Svetlana Aristarkhov. With their palates for fine wine well developed through an international career in the oil and gas industry, they are meticulous in their decisions. It’s been a thoughtful process from the selection of their Naramata lake view property, planting of the vineyards named for their daughters, securing talented winemaker Jacq Kemp, and naming Moraine Estate Winery for the glacial terrain and clay bluffs.
The knowledgeable family and staff will make you feel welcome and introduce you to an array of award-winning wines at affordable prices. In addition to the magnificent views, you’ll see a masterpiece in progress — the future wine-producing facility, retail and tasting area, exterior patio lounge plus two guest suites.
