Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery, located in the beautiful farming region of Langley, has been operating since 1974. This family run farm, that began as a strawberry patch, began making fruit wine in 2014 and this year, winemaker Sandra Lee Kiechle took the team to the next level with a very big win. With 1,401 fruit and grape wine entries from across Canada, Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery’s Cassis took the double gold medal and brought home the All Canadian Wine Championships “Fruit Wine of the Year”!
Now with 200 acres in operation, owners Alf and Sandee Krause are leaders in their farm community practicing sustainable farming for over 40 years. And from these fertile fields comes delicious produce that locals and visitors can enjoy in the onsite restaurant. The family was thrilled to welcome new estate winery restaurant chef Jeremy Wollenberg to the farm this year. With a locavorian philosophy in check, Chef Jeremy creates beautiful three course meals for the Friday Night Fresh Sheet Menu using ingredients handpicked from their farm and gardens and other ingredients sourced from neighbouring farms. Dinners are Friday nights from 5-9pm and reservations are strongly recommended. 604-856-5757 ext 206.
Krause will be hosting the annual Feast of Fields celebration at their farm on September 10th. This special event brings together local food and drink producers together with local chefs and artisans to offer guests a taste of their community. Also on the books are an Apple Festival on September 23rd and Pumpkin Festival on October15th– perfect events to plan for the whole family. The barley maze and pumpkin patch delight the local children and of course, it will be pumpkin pie season!
