A tasting experience at family-owned Moraine Estate Winery on the Naramata Bench is like no other. Winemaker Jacq Kemp says at Moraine it’s not so much about tasting notes and numbers but more about a friendly and comfortable exchange between guests and staff.
“We feel that our visitors know a lot about wine and what they like and love to hear what they have to say. The experience is very authentic and I often drop by to meet people. We talk about the vineyard, the grapes and the processes we’ve used and listen to what they tell us about how they are enjoying the wine.”
Moraine’s striking setting enhances the tasting experience. The winery is perched on a shelf above a clay cliff overlooking Okanagan Lake. A great selection of locally sourced meats and cheeses are available to pair with a glass of their award-winning wine on the view patio where guests are welcome to bring their own picnic and soak in the panoramic scene.
Moraine kicked off the 2017 season of new releases with a bang by winning a gold medal in the 2017 Best of Varietal Awards for their 2016 Riesling. Moraine’s Viognier, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir 2014 and Pinot Noir 2013 are available only at the wine shop and will sell out in July or August. Their lovely wines are produced from the estate’s beautifully tended vineyards, which are sustainably managed by Jacq.
Moraine is known for its elegant, balanced and distinctly varietal vineyard focused wines that please the palate and scoop up awards. The secret is also out that these amazing wines are among the most reasonably priced on the Naramata Bench. All these factors combine to make for lots of wine wins.
