The patio at Adega on 45th is quickly approaching legendary status among wine tourists. A beautifully unique, and largely unobstructed, panoramic view of Osoyoos and the lake will entertain customers while they relax and sip wines. It is easily the premier picnic spot in Osoyoos.
The patio is fully licensed for wine by-the-glass or by-the-bottle, and visitors can bring their own food if they choose or pick from a selection available from their deli fridge, which is stocked this year with some great new items. Stuffed olives, pâté, tapenade, salami, artisan cheeses from BoMé on Vancouver Island and Cows Creamery in PEI, are all available for hungry wine tourists to enjoy on the patio at their leisure. There is everything that one could need for a picnic, including shade, which is a necessity in the heat of an Osoyoos summer. Lush grape vines on a trellis provide beautiful, natural shade as well as adding wine country ambiance to the patio.
A perfectly refreshing wine to enjoy with a picnic spread is Adega’s new 2016 Riesling. Loaded with aromas and flavours of apples, rose petals, and minerals, the Riesling is pure refreshment for the summertime heat. Riesling makes a generally versatile wine and this one finishes slightly off-dry, which makes it easy to drink on its own or paired with just about anything. The Riesling is grown entirely on the Adega vineyard and the grapes are also used in the much-loved blend, Felicidade.
The Adega wine shop is also filled with art from Osoyoos-area artists. There is a huge selection of pottery by Darlene Fillion for sale and paintings by Gay Ross and Erin Lemiski. Adega’s wine shop is truly a feast for all of the senses!
