I am Legend
Legend Distilling extracts the essence of British Columbia and serves it up in beautifully crafted gin, vodka and liqueurs. Local fruit, grains and botanicals are used in their premium spirits, which make magical cocktails served in a stunning setting overlooking Okanagan Lake.
Dawn and Doug Lennies’ craft distillery and lounge has truly become legendary on the Naramata Bench in the few short years they have been giving wine aficionados a hip alternative.
Farm to glass has recently met up with farm to fork. Legend Distilling in Naramata is now home to Knotweed Restaurant and it’s a perfect marriage. Both Knotweed and Legend share concepts and philosophies on community, supporting and buying local and sustainable and crafting incredible food and drink.
“I love to cook with local ingredients and the menu changes as often as nightly to weekly depending on what our suppliers have on hand,” says Knotweed chef /owner Mike Sonier.
“We are really excited about a new introduction this spring,” says Dawn. “Amaro, a bitter or digestif that is served as an after dinner drink is in the works. Made from herbs and botanicals it’s very popular in Europe. Every little town in Italy has a distillery that makes a local Amaro and it is fun to bring this tradition to the Okanagan with our own spin on it.”
Dawn says Legend is also in the midst of adding to its distillery equipment, expanding parking, adding to its kitchen, introducing weekend brunch and babying its barreled whiskey which will be unveiled in 2018.
Live Music Wednesdays, Whiskey and Rib Thursdays, a monthly Winemakers Dinner, painting workshops, pop-up markets and cooking classes are some of the events featured at Legend throughout the year. Check Legenddistilling.com to get plugged in. You too could be legend.
