While the Bottleneck Drive region is really known for the wineries, this summer Dirty Laundry Winery proved that wine lovers and beer lovers are sometimes one and the same.
Their ever-popular patio started serving up their version of BC’s best beer, a line called “Laundry Suds”, brewed especially for the winery by Bridge Brewing in North Vancouver. While the wines by the glass and bottle were definitely flowing, kegs of their Dirty Blond Kolsch, Brunette IPA, Full House Pale Ale and the Red Head Wheat Ale were being rapidly depleted. The winery served up pints and many opted for the flight options so they could try all four.
The other addition this summer to the line-up of picnic lunches and cheese plates was also a huge hit– locally made Artisto Gelato cups. Artisto is made in Kelowna and is known for their innovative flavours such as pistachio, made with real pistachio nuts, caramel sea salt and tiramisu. The ice cream was a treat available for those under and over age and will continue to be served through the fall season.
The winery is currently prepping for the harvest and busy packing up wine club orders. If you didn’t buy enough wine during the season, the wine club is an excellent way to get that cellar stocked up. Members are given recommendations on what wines they receive each season, but always have the final say in the wines shipped. Additionally members can order more wine at any time of the year and they receive free shipping.
The accommodations are booking up for the fall, and the new Parlour House has received rave reviews on TripAdvisor. With gorgeous views of vineyards, the lake and the railway, Dirty Laundry is a reasonably priced and convenient location to relax during your stay in wine country.
2015 Dangerous Liaison – $20.99
In these tangled vines, you’re bound to find some pleasure. But was this scandalous tryst worth the risk? You decide… A beautifully balanced blend of Merlot, Malbec & Syrah, she boasts vibrant indigo color with intense, sweet spice on the palate balanced by notes of black cherries, blackberries, and plums. It is smooth, and ripe in the mouth with soft tannins and a silky finish. Pairs well with, Charcuterie, Chilli con carne, Monday night Spaghetti and meatballs or even spicy lamb curries like rogan josh.
2015 Naughty Chardonnay – $23.99
She’s just Naughty… Exotic, fruity, & the life of the party. Her smoky foreplay yields to a tantric citrus finish. Slightly aged in French Oak. Look for ripe apple, pear, delicate honey and a long citrus finish. Perfect with seafood, smoked salmon and chicken.
