With warm weather upon us, a favourite activity for Penticton locals and visitors alike has returned—sitting on the patio at The Bench Market and enjoying a coffee, food made fresh from local ingredients, and soaking in the sun. And, with the growing season underway, owners Heather and Stewart Glynes are pleased to reconnect with their favourite suppliers—“8 to 10 local farmers whom we work directly with”—who arrive at the side door with fresh produce. One, who also supplies The Bench Market through the cold months, even takes back the compost to spread on his fields!
“We are looking forward to fresh kale, arugula, spring peas and strawberries in May, with early cherries and apricots later in June,” Heather smiles. “Stewart loves to incorporate fresh local produce in our daily specials and selection of salads. He is even happier now that we have renovated the kitchen!”
Customers will appreciate the fresh look to The Bench Market web site, which includes menus and a gallery chock full of to-die-for menu items. Wine tourists—in vehicles or on bicycles—love to make The Bench a stop for breakfast on the way to wineries, and to pick up artisan grocery items to enjoy with their wine purchases on the way back.
The Bench Market is open 7 days a week to 5 p.m. Stop and enjoy!
