The View Winery in southeast Kelowna recently rolled out the barrels for a pre-bottling sample of their scintillating new limited release wines scheduled to hit the shelves this spring. Proprietor Jennifer Molgat and winemaker Mike Anderson hosted me for a memorable taste tour in The View’s historic wineshop. (Pictured are winemakers Mike Anderson and Kristy French).
2015 The View Pinot Gris
Our first treat was the Pinot Gris. Fresh and fruit forward, it contained flavours and aromas of apricot, pear and apple along with a pleasing hint of oak. Just 100 cases will be available only at the winery.
2015 The View White Pinotage
The first of its kind in North America, Mike’s uniquely delicious White Pinotage. Flavours of gooseberry and citrus are complemented by a hint of orange blossom and warm grassy notes. Crisp and dry, it is a wine you won’t want to miss. Just 100 cases produced.
2015 The View Ehrenfelser
A cool climate standout. Aromatic and reminiscent of every tropical fruit you can think of, the Ehrenfelser is going to be a crowd pleaser. Only 200 cases of this new release will be available.
All three limited release wines will be bottled with The View’s flirty red shoe label and will be featured with weekend food and wine pairings during Spring Wine Fest. For more information go to theviewwinery.com.
