Every artisan is a storyteller. Culinary craftsmen Gavin and Shana Miller (pictured)might not use words as their mediums, but their stories are clear in their exceptional wines and cheeses.
Driven by passion and creativity, these two spent the winter perfecting their latest artistic expressions, and the result is a spring full of delights for the rest of us!
Shana is always practicing her custom cheesework–recipes she creates to keep her motivated.
Not one to hibernate, Gavin was diligently perfecting the exemplary new releases: the popular Cab Franc Rosé returns after a three year hiatus. They’ve produced only 100 cases of this liquid gem, so check it out early!
Making its public debut is a co-fermented Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend, anecdotally named Yard Wine, replete with its own beautiful legend.
Brand new this year is the single-vineyard Merlot, grown at neighbouring Four Shadows Vineyards.
The tasting room at UB is open year round, and as of April 1st will extend its hours (10-6 daily). Spring is the perfect time to drop by for storytime. The quiet hum of the early season means fewer crowds and more time to meet the proprietors, learn about their passions, and taste the love in their products. At Upper Bench Winery and Creamery, they’ve established their own tiny artists’ colony, and they have plenty of delicious tales to tell.
