After ten-plus years of making award-winning Alsatian-style whites, Bordeaux-style reds, sinful sparklings and decadent dessert wines, it’s apparent that Summerland’s Sonoran Estate Winery has what it takes to tempt any palate. Now that it has moved back to the original location at 21606 Bridgeman Road, things have come full-circle for the Smits family winery.
The easy-access location, great portfolio and gracious hostessing has made Sonoran a must-see destination along Summerland’s popular Bottleneck Drive route. A picnic licence and delicious pre-packaged deli-fare allows their loyal following to enjoy a glass on the patio at a visually-stunning location on the slopes of Lake Okanagan. Simple, beautiful, and absolutely perfect. The shop is open daily 10-6 until mid-October.
On Saturday, July 11th from 12-4, Sonoran invites loyal customers, friends and new guests to attend free festivities celebrating their Grand Re-Opening. Local act “Case of Blues,” featuring Dave Thomas will perform, along with yours truly 😉
From Sonoran’s history of beautiful blue bottles to the eye-catching blue roof of son Pieter Smits’ new winery (set to open this summer just north of the Summerland tourism office), it is clear that the Smits family is poised for continuing the family winemaking tradition well into the next generation.
