At Kalala Organic Estate Winery, organic viticulture is not a trend, it’s a long-term commitment. They have been certified organic in the vineyards for five years and strive towards self-sustainability in the vineyard. Currently, their vineyard team is busy tending to the budding vines, ensuring that they all get the best possible start to the growing season.
This summer, the winery will be releasing its 2013 Pinot Noir ($21). A great summer red, this Pinot has delicious aromas of coconut, cassis, and leather with flavours of succulent red cherries, vanilla, and cocoa. We can also look forward to the release of the 2012 Aspire (blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah) ($21). Similar in style to the 2011 vintage, this crowd-pleasing wine pairs nicely with grilled meats, making it perfect for early-summer BBQs.
With the arrival of the warmer weather, so too arrives the Spring Okanagan Wine Festival. The team at Kalala is excited to once again bring you a taste of their culture with their Where East Meets West event. On Saturday, May 9, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm please stop by the winery with a donation for the Westside Community Food Bank to enjoy samples of Kalala’s beautiful organic wines perfectly paired with mouth-watering East Indian tapas.
