With a year under their belts operating the Naramata Heritage Inn, owners Toni and Julius Bloomfield couldn’t be happier with the results. Bookings are strong, the Bistro and Cobblestone Wine Bar are thriving under the leadership of chef AK Campbell and a dozen weddings are schedule for this year, with more already reserved for 2015.
“And staying open over the winter helped us maintain our core staff, which is a real bonus for us,” Julius says. “The winter was good. We tried lots of things and some worked, some didn’t. But we do know that this a great location for a romantic getaway and folks in the Okanagan love to take advantage of the short drive.”
Summer months see the return of Jazz Thursdays in the Cobblestone, where a growing pool of local musicians is supplemented with guest artists, and even the wonderful voice of a Cobblestone server. Also, Chef AK has introduced his new summer menu, which he changes up to feature locally grown produce in season.
In the spring, Toni and Julius were busy with renovations at what they describe as “a very complementary property”, the Naramata Courtyard Suites, just a short walk away on Robinson Avenue.
Most of the rooms are 1- and 2-bedroom suites with kitchenettes, decorated with retro colours that create a funky and fresh look to the 1960s-era property.
“I’m really happy with how they look,” says Toni. “They are a great alternative for visitors looking for reasonably priced accommodations in this wonderful village.”
