After 25 years of being amongst BC’s – and in fact Canada’s – most highly prized wineries, Quails’ Gate is getting ready to celebrate their silver anniversary with a summer full of delicious events.
From August 15-17, Quails’ Gate will present “The Lake,” an opera written by Susan Allison, the original homeowner of Allison House. Located on site at the winery, Allison House was built in 1873 and was the first home on the west side of Okanagan Lake. Allison House will also be home to a new shop as of early July, where you can purchase wine by the glass or sundry items…and lots of great foods for your on-site picnic at Quails’ Gate.
Music lovers will be thrilled to learn that Royal Wood will be presenting a concert at the winery on September 13. With a new album about to be released, Royal Wood will be backed up by 7 performers from the Okanagan Symphony.
Tickets can be purchased for the concert alone ($60); a stand-up reception and the concert ($100) or for a real treat, a fully paired wine dinner with the concert for $170 per person. With only 400 tickets, this will be an intimate event with great viewing for everyone.
And speaking of treats, Quails’ Gate’s ‘don’t miss’ list this summer includes their 2013 Gewürztraminer, made in the traditional Alsatian style with intense floral and spicy aromas. This outstanding off-dry wine features aromas that are evocative with rose petal, sandalwood and lychee notes.
The 2013 Chenin Blanc, one of Quails’ Gate’s most popular wines, displays the characteristic crisp lemon and lime exuberance and the palate is wonderfully balanced with crisp citrus and hints of green apple. Pair it with a chilled seafood platter or a crisp chopped salad.
Drop by Old Vines Restaurant at Quails’ Gate for a vast selection of their award-winning wines and some of the best food you’ll find anywhere.
