July and August are the busiest months at Recline Ridge Winery in the Shuswap. “Guests from all over the world visit us, and we will be ready to give them a very positive experience,” says Graydon Ratzlaff, who owns the winery with his wife Maureen. “Visitors will be able to taste our award-winning wines at our unique tasting bar, and also enjoy the view from the patio, overlooking the vineyard. It’s a peaceful setting, and great for spending some time with us.”
Graydon and Maureen are supported by full-time winemaker Jesse Steinley and staff.
Recline Ridge will be featuring 11 wines—5 off-dry aromatic whites, including 2013 Bacchus, an off-dry rosé and 3 cool-climate reds. There are also 2 dessert wines that Graydon says are “wonderful.”
So far in 2014, Recline Ridge has won 13 new awards for its wines. New releases are planned for later in the summer.
Although north of the 50th parallel, the winery’s vineyard enjoys sun-drenched days and cool evenings, which maximize varietal character and set the stage for the production of wines noted for their clean, sound structure, intense flavours and perfect balance.
Graydon says the vineyard is looking great, and Recline Ridge is off to a terrific start for 2014.
On long weekends during the summer, says Graydon, “it’s always a party at the winery!” Recline Ridge will also be planning a special event in July. Check their website at reclineridgewinery.com for updates.
