Bill Wightman was appointed Wine Concierge at Quails’ Gate Winery in April of this year after working in the tasting room and retail store since 2012. They are proud to bring his many years of experience and expertise to the winery.
“This is an incredible place to work and the Stewart family is dedicated to growing the best possible fruit and producing the highest quality that are all terroir-driven,” says Bill.
“There are a number of things here that are unique. First of all, it is about the terroir and the fact that we are on a slope that was at one time a volcano. We have a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay program with different numbers of clones growing on the sites. We also have an indigenous yeast ferment here at Quails’ Gate that again sets us apart from other wineries.”
Bill also says another outstanding thing about Quails’ Gate is that some of the vines have been in the ground since 1961. “We are also one of the few wineries to grow Chasselas. And here at Quails’ Gate, we are always looking ahead to find new places with incredible terroir for future planting and growth.”
From October 4 through 12, during the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival, Old Vines Restaurant will daily offer Harvest Lunch & Dinner, with a three-course meal paired perfectly with Quails’ Gate wines. Award-winning Chef Nico Schuermans of Chambar Restaurant in Vancouver is featured for The Guest Chef Dinner October 5. Call 250-769-2514 for reservations.
