Nestled in the slope of an extinct volcano that presides over the Westside Wine Trail is a winery with historic roots that is taking a revolutionary approach with their guests. Mt Boucherie Family Estate Winery wants visitors to customize their visit and create their very own special memory. Kal and Nirmal Gidda have been growing grapes in the Okanagan since 1968 and the 21 wines they produce at Mt Boucherie are from 100% family-grown grapes. Along with Winemaker Jim Faulkner and the cellar team, they produce wines for every palate and occasion. When you visitthe winery, your taste buds will be taken on an adventure! You can also enjoy your picnic and sample wines with your nibbles; any of the wines are available by the bottle to have on site. Perhaps you like fresh, aromatic whites?
Try their 2011 Ehrenfelser ($15.99) – it's bursting with honeyed apple and grapefruit flavours . Or you might prefer a red – for something unique, try the unoaked 2009 Zweigelt ($17.99) with its juicy red berry and black plum flavours. You can even try a white or red Icewine from Riesling and Pinot Noir ($44.99 and $49.99 respectively). The team at Mt Boucherie wants to make sure that you choose how you experience their wines. They want you to lean back and take in the view and the flavours at your own pace.
On September 29th, Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery opens their doors from 12noon – 4pm for their eagerly anticipated Annual Fall Open House event! Take in the excitement of the harvest, while enjoying breathtaking views of Lake Okanagan and tasting complimentary hors d'oeuvres, and (of course) some of the most well-loved wines from BC Winemaker Jim Faulkner who will also lead exclusive behind-the-scenes tours at 1, 2, and 3pm. This happens only once a year – mark your calendar! www.mtboucheriewinery.com
