A newly-expanded kitchen gives The Bench Artisan Food Market increased capacity to satisfy the palates of locals and tourists alike. Menu offerings have been expanded – especially for breakfasts and for kids. The Bench bakes its own bread, muffins, scones, cookies and other treats. All their menu items are made from scratch, so
you can be sure of a healthy, tasty and nutritious meal or snack.
Located just at the start of the famous Naramata Bench wine region, this gourmet bistro, deli and food shop focuses on local, seasonal food and a field to plate philosophy. They use organic produce when possible, smoke their own meats, make fresh-squeezed lemonade and sell gelato made in Osoyoos. In addition, they sell a wide variety of locally-produced gourmet items such as cheeses, house-made dips, and take-and-bake pizzas. A wonderful selection of specialty imported foods also provides great choices for the gourmet cook.
Catering for business lunches, winery events and personal celebrations is also expanding. Pick up some appies to go or put together your own picnic basket of delicious goodies for your day of wine-touring on the Bench. Many wineries provide picnic areas where you can bring your own lunch or snacks and purchase wine by the glass or bottle to enjoy in their vineyards.
Owners Dawn Lennie and sister Debbie Halladay are strong supporters of the local art and music scene. Each month they showcase two local artists, using the Bench’s walls as a gallery to display and market their works. Check their website for live music offerings: www.thebenchmarket.com. The Bench is located on both the Penticton and Naramata Bead Trails, with its own unique bead available for sale along with locally-made bracelets and beads from other members.
Stop by this summer to enjoy The Bench’s delicious fare on its spacious patio – a cool place to hang out that’s no longer a local secret!
