Codfathers Seafood in Guisachan Village in Kelowna is one of those special places that becomes a neighborhood hub. This market has been part of the local fabric for over 25 years, operated since 2002 by Jon & Anne-Marie Crofts. Jon and Anne-Marie are active participants in the local food and wine scene and firm believers in sustainability.
April saw them at the Oliver & Osoyoos Oyster Festival. They were front and centre with an array of delicious BC oysters for sampling. In June, you will find them at the Okanagan Spot Prawn Festival, held at The Cove Resort. They will be on site with live BC Spot Prawns in case any festival attendees are inspired by all of the delicious tidbits on offer.
Codfathers supplies many local restaurants, such as Watermark Beach Resort, Raudz and Mica at Spirit Ridge, with fresh, sustainable seafood products.
Stop in the next time you’re driving by and pick up something for dinner. Their knowledgeable staff can help you find what you’re looking for, and they have a store of great recipe suggestions as well. In this day of big box stores and the industrial agrarian complex, Codfathers is a place to shop that you can feel good about. All of their seafood is harvested appropriately and conforms to standards set out by the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program.
