Township 7 Winery is known for producing several distinctly different Chardonnays by sourcing grapes from select vineyards and by employing varying vinification methods. Renowned for its Chardonnay program, the winery was honoured for White Wine of the Year at the All Canadian Wine Championship and was chosen by the Prime Minster to serve to the Queen at a State dinner last year. Learn for yourself how Winemaker Bradley Cooper achieves this at the Okanagan Spring Wine Festival with a Chardonnay component tasting May 12, 2012 at their Naramata winery. For just $20, discern the elements that affect Chardonnay flavour and aroma profiles in this hands-on workshop. Discover the magic behind blending and compare the affects of vineyard site, barrel type and age, and the extent of malolactic fermentation that the wine goes through, and then craft your own. Enjoy tapas and live music at the “Art of Assemblage” and reserve your place in the seminar by emailing wine@township7.com.
2008 Reserve Chardonnay $24.99
Only 228 cases, this top-flight Chardonnay is crisp yet lush, with plenty of tropical fruit and toasted nut and oak flavours. Aromas of buttery apple, honey, coconut and fig. The palate has candied apple, pineapple, vanilla, and dates. Velvety finish.
2009 Chardonnay $19.99
Cooper has crafted this Chardonnay using four premium vineyards and combining the grapes to contribute both fruit and spice. He’s also fermented with three different yeasts and then barrel- aged in French and American Oak for 10 months. This wine is all vanilla and butterscotch with some citrus and tropical fruit. Finishes creamy and long.
