Sonoran Estate Winery recently won “Best in Show” at the 23rd Rossland Rotary Wine Festival, held during the Rossland Winter Carnival.
“Competition was tight, and we’re honoured to have been chosen as the favourite winery,” says Winemaker Adrian Smits.
Now in it’s 8th year, Sonoran has steadily been winning bigger and better awards, such as “Best Bordeaux-style Blend” and trophy for “Best Value Wine,” at the 2010 All Canadian Wine Championships (for their 2007 Cabernet Merlot). All of these accolades haven’t gone to their heads. Sonoran is still a place where you will be welcomed with a smile, most often from one of the Smits family members themselves.
Sonoran is pleased to welcome back their wonderful cook, Lynn Schulberg at their on-site eatery, the Full Moon Bistro (re-opening April for daily lunches only, 11 – 2). Her daily homestyle soups and sandwiches and famous baked brie have helped make Sonoran a must-see on Summerland’s Bottleneck Drive.
During the Spring Wine Festival, Sonoran will be serving a prix-fixe lunch menu May 5th from 12 – 3pm (cost $19.90). Reservations required.
2010 Pinot Gris/Pinot Blanc $17.90
A crisp, citrus-y & aromatic wine, appealing to both red & white wine-lovers. Great with grilled garlic prawns, light pastas, and salads.
